Do you know if the dried yucca is coming from the yucca plant or yuca? Yuca is very different and often confused with yucca. If it is yucca, which part? El Paso is right in the desert, and yucca grows like a weed out there. I can drive out there an hour, get some un tainted yucca, and prepare at home.

That's a great question! I know that yuca (one c) is edible, because I LOVE it and we eat a lot of it in Brazil.

Be very careful harvesting Yucca. I found out that it is protected federally and even picking dried stuff up off the ground can get you in a lot of trouble. The guy I had lined up to gather yucca for me was getting it off private property with the owner's permission and a Forest Service guy very nearly gave him a ticket.

You can call your local Forest Service office and find out for sure.

It's yucca, not yuca. Joshua trees are in the yucca family and is a protected species
