All the dogs we have had have been one of those dangerous scary dogs who would either lick you to death or smother you while trying to get a cuddle in
The only dog I have had that I need to be careful having around people is a dog that is not classed as scary or vicious. It depends on the breeding, training and also the dogs life experiences.

The only dogs I was genuinely scared of when I was a kid was chihuahuas.
