We have an 8 week old, hand fed white face. Very healthy and very active. Yesterday I was holding him and when I put Patches back in his cage I noticed a faint, small smear of blood on my shirt. I looked him over. When I turned him on his back, at the base of his of his tail almost between his leg is a thick dried scab. Is it possible he injured himself during one of his many attempts to fly? He seems to be fine. I have confined him to his cage and padded it.. It doesn't bleed at all..

I never thought of that. We have dealt with blood feathers in the past, but always visible . I s it possible for a blood feather to clot like that? He has landed on small tail feathers!

I was going to suggest a blood feather also. A picture could help.

I'm sorry - I don't know. Is there something in the cage he could have injured himself on - you mentioned he is very active. Young tiels can very clumsy. I hope he continues to be OK.
