Updates! Yes I meant to find this thread. didn't know if I was allowed to bump it or not :)

She was resting on my tummy while I was reclining on the computer. I saw her puff up and make hard breathing sounds. I thought "Oh here it comes!!" and rushed to the bathroom. Out came an egg! She laid it very quickly, very nicely. I cleaned her up and let her rest/eat/drink before putting her to bed.

So far she's doing fine. Now I just need to find a way to make her stop laying. I can't put the eggs with her because she absolutely wants NOTHING to do with them. So... yeah :/

thank you all so much for being concerned. It means so so much to me you have no idea. and Nibbles too!

I <3 you guys.

I apologize for not updating earlier or calling. I was waiting it out and busy IRL as well. I kept Nibbles in a cage right next to my bed every night too. :x

You must put the eggs in with her or she will keep laying them. They do not exhibit an interest until all the eggs are laid. Also you need to leave them in there for at least 30 to 40 days.

She also needs calcium suppliments. Dark leafy veggies, cuttlebone and a liquid called Calciboost.

Thanks for letting us know Lynz. Ginger you have to be careful with supplements. Too much calcium can also cause problems. Lynz I think you should work with your vet on supplementation but try to boost her nutrition with calcium rich foods.

Most birds lay more than one egg and they don't take interest in them or start to incubate them until all eggs are layed. They do that so that all the eggs start incubating at the same time so that they will all hatch around the same time. You should leave the egg in there for at least a week to see if she is finished laying.

Have you thought about calling Dr. Harris

12125 S. Dixie Hwy; Miami, FL, 33156

(305) 234-BIRD (2473)
1 (877) 276-2473

Even if you are not close, maybe they could provide some advice or help. A ref. to another vet that's closer.
Try to call to see if they have someone on call tonight.

Give us an update soon.
Wish you the best.

Lynz,
Just read the update after I posted Dr. Harris's infor. Happy she's going to be fine. Might keep Dr. Harris's number close by or in your phone book . Never know when something will come up again.

Have a good weekend

Update - I spoke with Lynz on the phone last night and everything is good with her baby. She is getting ready to lay another egg any day. She knows if there is any more problems, she can call me. We are only about 10 miles from each other, and I'm giving her other numbers to call and the name and number of a very good avian vet up close to her. Once again, everyone came together and helped and with a great outcome.:dance4:

Just an update for you guys. She laid a third egg tonight. Probably the last. She's getting skinny but she usually does that when she lays. I'll fatten her back up ;) The egg shells were hard and everything was fine. Laid them very quickly.

Now to get all that nutrition back in her and I think we'll be good!

Thank you all again ^_^ And cindy and Gary
