That is what I was told when I went to pick up my BG at the sitters. The sitter is a big part of the local rescue and keeps the larger parrots in her home.
Anyway...
One of the volunteers that comes to help with the birds, also works in a palliative care home. She was admiring my BG and was telling the sitter about a fellow who is in the palliative care home that used to have birds, he loves birds.
She asked the sitter if she could take one of Kiwi's flight feathers that she had just molted to the fellow in palliative care home. The sitter, didn't know why she took Kiwi's, as there is ALWAYS macaw feathers around there. She said "There is just something special about that bird".
I was very touched, that one of Kiwi's flight feathers will be with him, in his last home.
