Therapy Cats

I have a good friend that is mostly deaf and mostly blind. Her cat died from cancer a few months ago. She has been very sad since then. I thought a therapy or emotional support cat would be good for her. I have been googling to see how one finds such a cat. I only find information on how to get your cat certified. Anyone with insight on this or experience?

I know she needs a letter from her doctor stating the need and benefit of such a cat for her. This would not be a problem to get a letter.

Those certificate sites are scams and do nothing but prey on people for cash. All she needs is a letter from a doctor or therapist. In my case, it took a few months to get, but if her doctor knows her situation well, it may take less time.
