Ive been trying to get a pic of this but I haven't been able to ...but have you ever seen a Too try to put a cup in his wing or balance one on his back ...Harley/Ghost has been doing this ever since I gave him the cups ..its so funny ...he will do this over and over for what seems like hours ...he loves playing with the smaller cups ..he will try and try but cant figure it out ...if I can get a pic I will post it so you all can see what I'm talking about ...the things they come up with :wacky::roflmao::wacky:

Never seen it done with a cup but my Goffin's likes to put molted feathers and certain foods on her back or under her wing. Glad you are enjoying Harley and that things are working out!

It's called "anting". Common with cockatoos and some other birds.

Anting is a self-anointing behavior during which birds rub insects, usually ants, on their feathers and skin. The bird may pick up the insects in their bill and rub them on the body, or the bird may lie in an area of high density of the insects and perform dust bathing-like movements.

My goffin's sometimes ants with pieces of pellets or little bits of wood. My greater rarely does it, but sometimes if hormones are raging she will zone out in her nest/pile of chewed up stuff and stick little pieces into her feathers.
