Was that Mom or Dad to the rescue when the little one was yelling? They are wonderful!
I once had a two month old kitten fall off a counter right in front of me and plop hard onto the floor. I picked it up to check it over and it was obviously having trouble getting its breath, so I massaged its chest and abdomen gently and it was finally able to get a deep breath of air. Which if used to loudly scream for his mother. Miri arrived to find me holding the screaming kitten (which turned out to be fine). Mom clawed at my leg to lower the kitten to her reach and anxiously smelled the baby all over, then gave me the most withering look - "If you can't care for a kitten properly, you cannot have one!" - took the kitten from my hand and walked away with it. Miri watched me suspiciously for hours before allowing me to touch her kittens again.
