My Buttons and Bobbin are true characters. They get into everything. They love my desk especially.

They like to ride my hand while I operate the mouse.

Bouncing around on the modem for good measure...

Striking a pose!

Watching Toby, a tiger salamander who lives in a terrarium on my desk. They seem to find him very interesting!

Checking out an imposter...

Coming when called.

We rescued a baby female house finch from a crow on our roof. We fed her baby parrot food and she thrived and bonded with us and was just like that. Lucky Beeper was so small or there would have been no plants left in the house. She sang, played with her toys and would steal our food and drink. She loved to ride on my mouse hand and fall asleep and reach over my hat to pull on my eye brows.

If you hand raise them they'll imprint and bond with you then you get a cool tame finch that thinks you are his world. We didn't set out to tame Beeper but she decided we were mama and papa and that was that. Mythic55 I believe is the member that was hand raising very large and tame variety of finches. Her bird even demanded head scritches. I hope she's still around and her birds are doing well, she went through and did a lot for them.

My two weren't hand-fed. I bought them from a couple of pet stores a few months apart, they were wild when I bought them but they got over it very quickly with a bit of hands-on attention for a few days and now they are superbly trusting and always want to be a part of what I'm doing.

Well I always like to say with trust and love you can win over just about any critter. I know it worked for lurch who was a used parrot with a LOT of baggage but after a mere 5 years I was his chosen one and friend.

Most finches are hard to photograph because the camera scares them. Not so, with these two! The camera is a toy to investigate.

Gotta look it over really well, up and down...

Then they come a little closer... They live with Milo, a canary, but he is not tame at all, and he stays back.

And closer...

...until this!
