I'm so sorry that I haven't given any updates on Sydney. He's doing really well! We've moved him into the main bird room and gave him the front window spot. He spends a lot of time looking outside and vibrating his wings while looking out. We all feel that he has PTSD with respect to how he responds to things. However, with that being said, he's getting so much better every single day!
If I have time tomorrow, I will take some new pics of him.

It makes my Heart bleed seeing the conditions that some animals have to endure because of whatever reasons.
Well done to you for being in the right place at the right time. And offering this poor soul some chance to live a life and not just exist.

Thank you, Geoff.
I fully intended to rehabilitate and then rehome him, but I just can't sever his strong bond with me. Not after all that he's gone through.

He freely steps up, but once I begin moving him away from his cage, he becomes anxious. So now I'm working on slowly increasing the distance from his cage. If he shows signs of stress, I stop where I am until he relaxes.
Being imprisoned for 8 years truly messed him up. But he's a very resilient little guy. I am truly happy with his progress so far! Except for his flirtatiousness towards me.:D

I was just wondering about Sidney yesterday! How felicitous! You may end up having to keep the wee dote. He was certainly meant to find his way to you. Want a rotten, aggressive, hormonal male B&G??? JK. ;)

How anyone with a soul can possibly think any sentient being is happy living in solitary confinement, is beyond me. If that were a person it would be considered cruel and unusual punishment. It should be no different for any other living creature. Ignorance is no excuse.....smh......God bless you for giving him a better life.

@Clueless this is especially for you! Pics of Sydney taken today! I tried to take him out of his cage, but he was way to flirty, so I had to let him decompress. Sheez!
He's a very busy guy, going from one toy to another, from one piece of cardboard to shred to another. All the while making hilarious sounds. He doesn't talk, but makes amazing and very realistic sounds.

Thank you! He's such a resilient and forgiving little guy. When I first brought him home, he didn't even know how to engage himself with a toy, and he'd sleep at night perched on the side of his bowls.

The differences WOW. His feathers are bright and shiny, his eye sparkle and there is a light of joy in them. He looks like a completely different bird.

You can see the happiness in his eyes.

I went back through and read some of this thread myself and it was gut wrenching. I totally commend you @Nikomania and everyone else on here who has brought a rescue into your home. Knowing you are bringing in more than just a bird into your home but also their past as well in most cases. I know I would be so upset hearing my bird say some of the things that have been heard by the parrots on here. But with that it makes keeping them safe and loved even more worth it.
