August 2018, My lovely Nube and Lapis hatched.
Early September, the chicks were now over 3 weeks old and I was starting to handle them.

I was enamoured of them.

I took pictures, and like all pictures, I upload to my facebook which I use as a back up.
Everything was going well.

One day I was uploading, and as I clicked post, up popped this message:

IMG_20180908_112100.jpg

I was puzzled. I was staring at the pictures and could not make heads nor tails of it.
I clicked request review.

IMG_20180908_112154.jpg

Well I never.
I was quite insulted that they had flagged these pictures as nudity and/or sexual activity.
I have seen so many rude pictures over the years, how did they get past this yet my birds didn´t?!
I just wanted to post pictures of my beloved chicks.

I was annoyed so much I took to sarcasm and posted a cheeky ¨apology¨:

fb2.png

My pictures were still blocked. And remained blocked for a while.
Eventually I got a response:

41385855_10155398203667024_5646391133782147072_n.jpg

Needless to say, I clicked the ¨unhappy¨ face!

That is so bizarre.

One of your friends probably reported your pictures. I have posted nude pictures before. I was at Pride Parade and Oops didn't noticed those dangling bits or flapping bits. They are completely covered in ink and art and looked like floral suits. OOPS.

One of my very religious friends reported me. Then my pics were removed.

I think it was probably your friends or family. Might want to you through the list and delete any who dont or shouldn't belong.

Like I've said before, I don't bother with FB...too many strange things go on to trust them. Privacy issues concern me the most...

Thats weird. Someone reported them because i had a few pictures back in 2011 from when i hand raised lovebird chicks and i had no problem. They were only 12 days old.

That’s crazy! Did your heading have the words “nude babies” in it? Maybe that’s why, like an automated response to something that could possibly be considered risqué?

Cute little naked babies btw!

I would also have posted an apology.

So sorry that you all here don't have a descent life and probably feeling very bad because of that.
I guess that you need to take a lot of pills that doesn't work more then to give you a very bad attitude and the feeling that you need to criticize others.
Empathy is something that you will need to Google for and if you still don't understand what it is I have a advice to give you.
Ask yourself, are you perfect enough to judge me?

A lot of people said that (about someone reporting me).
However these were blocked within a minute or two. Also, I only have friends and family on there, and none of these pictures are public. I didn´t even write anything as I was just uploading the to a folder, not creating a post per say.
Facebook must have some sort of software as it would have to be a stalker to flag the pictures so quick.
I thought the only way to deal with it was a dash of sarcastic humour.

I´d love to know how it works.

I also got another post blocked for ¨going against comminuty standards¨ -I shared a news article (posted by a reputable newspaper) about a female gorilla coming from London to live in my local zoo.

There is an algorithm/bot that will look for photos or trigger words to block. So if there is a lot of skin tone in comparison to the rest of the photo, it will false trigger as nude. Your arm makes up a large portion of the photo with the baby nestled in it. It isn't a perfect system :)

I agree - most social media platforms are developing some kind of machine learning algorithm to detect photos of naked people, porn etc. They're not perfect yet and there are lots of cases of completely innocent things getting tagged or removed because the algorithm thinks it's adult content - sand dunes are notorious for this! Tumblr recently had a huge problem where they rolled out something that was meant to detect pictures of women's nipples but it ended up identifying and hiding a lot of other things, like people's faces and even pictures of vegetables.

I don't think it was one of your friends, but that a naked bird looks a little bit TOO much like a naked bird!

Sand dunes are such sexy earth formations! Too funny.

I can see the annoyance of the software, but all in all I think it is nice feature. It will probably improve in the future because of feedback like Zara's.

I sorta wonder if the flag was because the post may have contained the word 'baby' 'young chicks' or something .. No idea verbatim what @Zara wrote? This could have caused the software to search it more critically with skin tone ratios in an attempt to protect a human baby. Just a thought :) I am not an expert in this field.

Pretty cute and innocent pictures, so I am glad the reviewed them and gave the green light.

@fashionfobie there was no words. It was just pictures, no description or location. I think it was the skin thing... but who knows... :)
Yes, they let me post them in the end at least :D

That happen to a girl in a nursing group on FB once. She showed a picture of her nursing her baby because she struggled to make enough milk and was finally exclusively nursing. FB blocked the picture as nudity but you couldn’t even see her nipple of anything just the back of the babies head. They unblocked it eventually. Their algorithms are crazy sometimes.

So maybe it is the skin thing... but I wonder how it would pick up on different skin tones...

I think the FB AI thought is was skin instead of a bird. I would request a review and they will probably unblock the picture.

I once asked on Facebook if anyone could “sex” my ducklings, and how much it would cost. In case no one knows what that means, it means opening the vent of a baby duck to tell what gender they are. I got reported to FB for sexual activity :lol:
