Soya - good or bad?

I am seeing recently that soya beans are being recommended as something to feed our parrots here. I always thought soya was something to avoid? I have links from way back eg. this one:

I know it is in most pellets and I have always understood the reason being it is a cheap ingredient.

Has research changed/proved it is safe?

The best answer is - we don't really know.

I don't feed soy a lot but occasionally do add tofu to the meal (like, a few times a year total)
