Finally at the point in my life where I can give an African Grey the attention it deserves, and, of course, all my notes on cage manufacturers are pretty worthless as they've all gone out of business (and I haven't seen a California Cage come up used at a reasonable price). The good news is that I've got a couple months to sort it all out!

I've looked at (in no particular order) A&E, HQ, YML, TSI, Prevue here near San Francisco and am rather unimpressed with the build quality on all of them.

I definitely appreciated the read at Updated Info - Post #1 Cage Brand Information | Avian Avenue Parrot Forum

I'm starting to look at the Expandable Habits or Northwest options, as well as perhaps Animal Environment, but need to find out a little more about the semi-mysterious issues going on there.

Always open to suggestions, or decent used cages near San Francisco.

Jeff

Also check out Avian Adventures cages. If you can afford a stainless steel custom built cage then Expandable Habitats or Northwest would be good options. I talked to the owner of Northwest. Very nice man. Was going to send him email with my specifications but I realized I couldn't afford the cost so I didn't follow up on that.

Welcome! I actually found a used California Cage for a great price on Facebook Marketplace. If you're on FB, that may be a good place to check.

Are you looking for custom made bird cage or aviary? When I had a grey she did very well in Kings Aluminum cage. It was so easily cleaned and lightweight.

Here is another company that I have heard is pretty good. Custom Aviaries & Bird Cages – CAGEMASTERS

The only "mass produced" cages I really will buy anymore are Avian Adventures or King's. Everything else is cheap :/

Welcome to AA. I agree with your assessment of today’s cages. We’ve picked up a few decent used Cal Cages on Graig’s List and I’ve been very lucky to get an SS King’s 506 and two used EH cages. We also bought two EH cages directly from the company, one of which was delivered this weekend. I’m so impressed by them that I would really like to replace all my cages with them.

My King's cage ("Superior" line) is as nice as my previous California Cage.
I have never seen an Avian Adventures cage IRL but the reviews are really good and they are so attractive and apparently easy to build.

Caitec cages aren't bad. I think a King's aluminum is too small, personally. I also like King's.
