Some problems...

Ok, I have a slight dilemma. Ever since I got the new camera, it takes FOREVER to upload my pics, most likely sue to the large size of my pics. They take several minutes to upload and I can only upload one or two at a time, or I get a thing that says a security token is missing, or just a few minutes ago, a database error. Now I don't want to go through all that hassle, so I upload less pics even though I take way more with the new camera. Is there any way to change some settings or expand the memory/capacity of the forum in some way to help lessen this problem?

I guess you're right, though. It's nice to know I'm not the only DSLR user experiencing this.

I resize all my pics before attaching them.....absolutely no problem whatsoever attaching 10 at a time....

What size do you resize them to? What do you use to do it?

i use picasa (free) resize to 1024 pixels

I resize (using PS) as well before I upload them and haven't had any problems.

You don't necessarily need to resize them AJ. Using a JPG "optimizer" will greatly reduce the file size for the same size picture. The raw camera picture has a lot of information that is not really needed and the optimizer will remove a lot of it. You will notice very little if any difference in quality. Basically you need to do some compression on them

I use paint shop pro by Jasc which has a great optimizer in it. You can set the level of compression.

I shoot JPG. The source file from the camera is over 3mb. After running the optimizer on it the file will only be 600-700Kb with no noticeable difference in quality.

I should have said "source" instead of RAW. My bad. Raw files are huge as you know.

There is an option to include or not include it. It also has a "one click" photo fix option that does a great shop of clarifying, sharpening, edge smoothing etc. All the things you would do anyway one step at a time.

I resize all of my internet photos to 800x600pixels and use Photoshop for all my post-photo processing. 800x600pixels brings the file size down to ~200kb.
