I'm jealous, last frost here is usually around June 15th. :( Talk about a short growing season!

Mom eats some of it too. I have to have my pot of Morning Glories. since little Sweet Pea cam to live with me I have planted both veggies and herbs. I am hoping that Bebe will at least try some this year. the one thing I need to find is some type of netting to wrap around peas and beans. otherwise the blasted squirrels get more then is their share.

well the seeds are planted as of this AM. all the big pots have something in them. the smaller pots need seeds that are soaked over night. I have found that if you soak big seeds overnight, they get jump start for growing. another great find was craft sticks that are tongue depressor size for marking what is planted where.

dang squirrels and pigeons in my neighborhood have been into my pots scratching around. somebody took all the peas and bean seeds I planted. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR:extremeanger::extremeanger:!!!!!!! so while I was out running around for Mother's Days stuff, I stopped at medical supply house and bought disposable paper surgical caps that will fit over my pot tops. they are held onto with jute string and to keep off the dirt, bamboo skewers. I'll take pictures in the AM. Uncle used these last year until the plants were up and growing well, then removed them.

yup, everything is in pots; 1-14" several are 10" and 2 are 12" pots.
ETA: I am not saying I get huge veggies out of those pots but they birdie size.
(there was domestic violence across the complex from me, I can't stand the thought of some woman being screamed at like that w/o doing something about it. Called 911)

I'm growing peas, beans, parsley, basil and carrots (Kamara can have the tops, the carrots themselves are for the humans)
And for the humans we have onions, tomatoes, carrots and potatoes.

garden pot covers:
IMG_0001.JPG
the biggest pot took 2 covers, I had to weave them together with skewers and twine.
IMG_0002.JPG
there is not cover big enough in this world to cover this, so this is another jimmy rigged deal.

these caps are water resistant, which kinda a PITA to water plants, but I will work around it as long as the squirrels and pigeons stay out of my plants.
lettuces, spinach, chia, kamut, wheatgrass are up YAY!!!!!!

Black aphids all over the kamut. dang it. it rain off and on all day here and I thought it was mud up on the leaves so misted the leaves down and all sorts of ICKY was crawling on my arms & hands. ok , cut down the plants to the roots. everything went into garbage bags from the plant. I checked all the other pots nope no aphids. I sprayed then down with organic bug spray (homemade).
