Before I was married, I would go off every 3 months or so to a cabin in the mountains and write. I know, I write all the time - but getting away helps me stop thinking about the dishes/laundry/mowing that needs to be done, and I would always say "whoops, no cell service up here" (except the time I actually NEEDED the cell service, because there was a big snowstorm and I got SNOWED IN - and I'd dropped the phone in the hot tub so I was pretty well stranded). I used that time to start a new book, or finish a book, or whatever.
Then I married this man, I won't call him needy but he needs more closeness than I have ever seen, so I have only had 2 writing weekends in 9 years. Sometimes we go together
on these little trips, and he promises to be quiet and let me write, and he cannot do it.
Sooooo I said I feel like a writing trip and he said GO. I looked at hotels and felt guilty about spending the money so he helped me find a nice one--he said just not the Ritz -- AND I AM GOING!!! He said go for 4 days, I miss you already.
I can't wait.
