I've been thinking about buying a bottle to clean my room with, mainly Java's cage and dishes. Since he came home, I've been using vinegar water to clean his cage with but it leaves a film sometimes and I'm not sure if it's doing a thorough job. I've added a few drops of dish soap at one point but that also didn't seem to make a difference. I'm wondering if I should invest in F10, or if there are equally good/better cleaning products (commercial or homemade) that I could use long term without worrying about jeopardizing his health.

F10 is amazing. It has a long shelf life, you only need a little so a bottle lasts a long time, has very little smell, and leaves no residue. I use it to disinfect bird cages, rat cages, and a gecko vivarium. It is one cleaner that I find "essential". There are things that F10 can kill that vinegar can't get near. Some vets have even used it as a nebulizier treatment for fungal infections. I doubt any would risk doing that with bleach!

It is safer to use and just as, if not more, effective than bleach.

I do not however, use it every cleaning. I think a sterile environment can be just as dangerous, and overuse can create "superbugs". So I use Aviclean or Nature's Miracle for everyday cleaning and F10 every other month or so for a deeper clean.

F10SC which is F10 super concentrate is the one I use

F10SCXD is F10 concentrate mixed with detergent, which means it will need to be rinsed from the surface

Winged Victory someone posted has a good price. Still it will make enough to last a good year or 2 depending on how you use it. Can't go wrong.
