Has anyone here shipped birds via United or Delta cargo? Could you let me know what kind of travel cage was used (I read their cage size specifications, but am checking if you used open cage with bars or something like cats/dogs kennel)?

Also did you have to remove the birds out of the cage at the cargo station?

My Dusky Conure was shipped in cargo via Delta. The breeder used a small cat/dog type carrier, drilled a hole in the side of the carrier so a perch could be attached and put some velcro on part of the bottom of the inside the carrier and on the bottom of a bowl putting some veggies in the bowl so he would have something to eat and something that had some liquid in it. The carrier door was zip tied in two places and the top and bottom of the carrier were also zip tied in a few places so it would be extra secure.

I did not remove him from the carrier until we arrived home.
