Tomorrow morning we leave at 9 am to visit Austin, where I will be picking up my baby... which happens to be a she, not a he! Better start thinking of girl names.

Out of curiosity, how many of you are females with female birds?
What is your bond like?
Was it more difficult to gain trust than it might have been with a male bird?
Sex does not matter to me. I will love her all the same. But I have heard that males tend to get along better with females.

Love turquoise Conures. I have had both female and male birds, usually small ones. I have had both female and male birds. The closest bond with a bird for me was a male English Budgie. Hope things work out well for you both.

The closest bond I've ever had was with a male bird (not a parrot, tho), and he hated men and was pretty much stuck on me. I've generally found that male birds bond more readily to females and vice versa, but I don't know if this is actually the case. I'm really interested in this because I don't want to repeat this, for the bird's sake - I'm holding out for a female gcc because I feel she would socialise better with both sexes. I would love to know how you get on.

She's absolutely beautiful, isn't she - you are very lucky!

She is beautiful. I love my girlie birds. In my flock, my girls are much more apt to accept kisses and snuggles versus my boys. All my boys are pretty nippy and more independent little boogers. This seems to be the trend with the foster cheeks too. Out of 24, Kari is the only girl that acts like a boy. I might have her DNA done by Dr. O!

Such a cute little girl! I love the turquoise. My GCC is very bonded to me and I believe she is a girl. Very much a Velcro bird and wants to be with me 24/7. Congrats on your little girl! Hope she is settling in well and you had a good weekend with her.

Female and one of my favorite birds is also female!

As far as conures go... one male and one female. I have a closer/better relationship with my male conure (Charlie) than I do the female (Jayde), but that said, I have a closer relationship with Jayde than I did my first conure (Noel - also a male).

Congrats on finally being able to bring her home! :)
