Sam is the cutest little goof! What a darling pretty bird!
Am I the only one who also noticed how goofily he scratches himself? He puts his foot out and over his wing to scratch his face. Never seen that before
Yes, Gigi scratches with her foot up and over her wing too, looks so awkward!
Lovebirds do that, too.
He isn't female. He's going through the equivalent of our puberty so you won't see the final result for a while, and his cere was pink so he's a he, and it will go blue.Lately though the cere is bluish white so I very much think girl now.
I would think they do that because it is easier for them to scratch their head over the wing, it would be in the way if they scratch from under it, + it probably helps them keep their balance.
I feel so silly not knowing that but I'm glad I learned something new! I wonder if there's a reason for that? Maybe cause they're wings are smaller?
That makes sense!I would think they do that because it is easier for them to scratch their head over the wing, it would be in the way if they scratch from under it, + it probably helps them keep their balance.
There's no actual age per se. But usually I'd expect the change to occur gradually over about 3 months, but then every birb is different. At what age does the cere become it's mature color?
