Safe wood for perch building???

Hello everyone! I would love to build my own perches (and eventually an outdoor aviary) but I don't want to just go to Lowe's and buy lumber without getting some knowledge from the wonderful AA community. So I guess my question is very simple... Where can I purchase safe lumber to build custom perches for my GCC? I can easily build some perches out of pvc because I have that lying around the house but I don't like the looks of it actually sitting out in the common areas of my home, I much prefer the look of wood.

You're going to need untreated raw wood. Not sure where to buy it tho. You don't want any chemicals infused in it.

I have a lot of trees and I would like to do that... However I don't know what type of trees they are. I would like to make sure they are safe

Probably the best thing to do is take photos to share here and compare them over the net too. (Lotsa work involved.)
