The vet has kept her ID Ring for me, so I will go and collect that this weekend. I was thinking about putting it on a chain .. and my husband suggested that perhaps I put together a photo book of her as a keepsake.

It's been a few days now, but I still feel quite sad .. I remember when Megs went to the first vet a few times and we were still playing the "wait and see" game regarding her diagnosis .. I had put her to bed already and when I walked passed her room, I heard her crying through the door. She was already losing her eye at this point. I sat with her and cried that night, I told her I was sorry and didn't know why this had to happen. It was about that time when I started this forum post.

I miss my little girl.

Thank you to Jasmine (Zydabird) for this beautiful tribute :

That's a beautiful tribute picture!

You will feel sad for awhile. I still miss Pogo and it's been a year and a half. Having the others does help though. I'm sad for you and Megs thinking about you crying together, makes me cry too. :sadhug2: I hope you find room for another bird in your heart.

What a beautiful photo Kristy of Meg:heart:. She is at peace now. I hope the vet finds out what that was. It saddens me . I feel your heart breaking. I have been there a few times.

This forum is a wonderful place to come and share our stories and photo's of our loved animals.

So, so sad. I just can not imagine what that could have been on her, never seen any such thing. Sorry for your loss, it is most hard, I know.

Collected Megs' ring today and squared off my bill with the vet.
Still waiting on the lab results.

I can't believe that it has already been a week since she passed.
I popped her ring on a chain, so that I can have her with me a little longer.

Kristy, I am still so sad for your loss - it just wasn't right! Megs will be with you forever and I don't mean her ring on your chain. You have her in your heart and mind and you always will have her there to love and cherish. It will take a while for you to not look for her in the places she would be usually and I will say, from experience, the hurt never goes away. It does eventually become something you can store away somewhere hidden but don't be surprised to find that strange little things can bring it back.

I wish you were closer so some of us could give you a real hug.:hug8::hug8:

Received an update from the vet today regarding how the lab is getting on :

" Dr Vorster from Vet Diagnostix and he said there was one more sample that they are processing before they can give us a final report, but so far he has not found any indication of infection like bacteria or fungi in the sections. I will hopefully hear from him by the end of the week. "

Seems this really is a bit of a mystery.

Wow, I hope they are able to figure out what it was.

What in the world could it have been. Are they testing for venom? I thought about leprosy but that is caused by some kind of bacteria and you said her tests came back clear of bacteria a fungus. I am still so sorry for your loss.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, Kristy.

I am new to the forums but I have seen something like this infection before in several birds years ago when I worked at a pet store. Ask your vet about bird pox...
