The people watching the nest don't interphere with them in any way that will alter the outcome. They leave nature alone, except for banding and measuring the baby. I would have been right in the middle of that nest trying to save the baby that died - but they wouldn't learn much that way.

Thanks to all that reporting what happens in the nest. I decided not to look anymore because I got to sad.

Baby is awake and preening. So sad to see the dead sibling still in the nest.

I just took a peek since I haven't watched the cam in a couple of weeks.
The surviving baby looks great. All their features are coming in prominently now and it is really stunning.
He was awake for a couple of minutes and was up looking around, but it's still night time there.
He has snuggled back into the nest and gone back to sleep.

I watched for a little while yesterday. Mom brought in a huge fish which the baby claimed and ate it all on its own! I see early this morning she is standing guard while the young one sleeps. Glad to see the baby is doing well.

I've missed this thread and haven't watched for a while. I'm glad it popped back up. Baby is sleeping... boy did it grow!
