my little canary, Zeke has been rubbing his beak on this one perch and i'm not sure why? I don't know if this thing is like cats, rubbing their cheeks on thinks because they want to leave their sent, or just because. Im not sure if this is heathy or not...

If he only does it occasionally, it is not a problem.

If he does it after eating or drinking, it is not a problem.

If it happens often, if you can see ANY redness, wetness, bubbles — it is a problem.

It can be anything from a sinus infection to mites.

He could be removing something from his beak, like food. My lovies also do it, sometimes because of frustration, and sometimes because they have an itch. I am sure there are many more reasons though. As long as he doesn't do it for minutes at a time, it is okay!

Birds do this to clean their beaks.
