So because it's the end of the season and I have to cut down my rose bushes anyway for winter I took some of the branches, removed all the thorns and gave them to Charlie to chew and play with. He seems to enjoy them quite a bit and they're not too hard of a wood.

If anyone else wants to do this be careful because most people treat and spray their roses with chemicals (Especially hybrid tea roses!) These are my roses and I know where they've been all year so I know they're safe.

It must have been difficult to take off all of the thorns.

One of my bushes (the one I gave to Charlie to play with) has very large thorns, but not very many. I was able to slice them all off with a small knife in about 5 minutes.
Another bush I have has hundreds of very small thorns so that probably wouldn't be the best one to give him as it would take far longer to get all the thorns off.
