Oh Carole, I'm so sorry. I know the fish steal our hearts as much as the birds. They look like birds flying through the water with their flowing fins and are such a joy. Rest in peace dear Vann. Hugs for you Carole..
Thanks for everyone's heartfelt thoughts. It was a sad day indeed. We had beat the parasite and infection I do believe. It just took too hard of a toll on him inside.
Troy went between acting like he did not care, to trying not to show he did. But I know he did. Yesterday he called me later in the day, to make sure I was home. He said he was going to stop by. Odd for him in the middle of the day, in the truck. He came in with a wooden box. He had stopped work to build a strong box to place Vann to rest. It was a super sweet thing to do. So last evening we placed him under this beautiful tree in the back that gets covered with white flowers.
This all might seem silly to some. But Vann has been with me since 2011. He probably hatched in 2009 or so. He sure was a courageous little fellow. I've never seen a fish go through so much. There were times when I wanted to end his suffering. In the end I begged...just let him go.
His bright happy self will be greatly missed.
