I am glad he had a year of flying free, I wish he could have had more

died Friday night after apparently striking a building on the Upper West Side, officials said.

The Wildlife Conservation Society, which operates the zoo, said in a statement that Flaco had been found on the ground after hitting a building on West 89th Street.

Building residents contacted the Wild Bird Fund, a rescue organization, whose staff members responded quickly, retrieved him and declared him dead a short time later, the society said.

That's so awful,I'm actually crying right now. He was such an icon in a short period of time.

This is sad,I had been following.
On I naturalist ,the have some bird strike projects, it really blew my mind how many die every day hitting buildings , heaviest in cities and tall buildings. Spring and fall migration
