Im thinking ahead now ...

I have hens of various ages. Some are very clued up and some not so much. A couple I think should not breed next year. I was just wondering at what age a hen should definitely retire.. for her health and happyness?

I don’t decide for them, I let them tell me. They will begin to lay infertile eggs, or they simply won’t breed. One male went to another hen and the first hen never picked a new partner. They get to move to the Old Bird cage and be pampered. (Like they weren’t already!)

Thank you finchly and serin for replying.

Its good to know that the hens will know when theyve had enough. Ive got an area especially for any retired hens so they can be happy during the breeding season.
