It sounds like your bird is doing fine. If you did go to the vet, more than likely the vet would put the bird on soft foods for a time and possibly suggest you give some extra calcium and Vitamin A.

Ok, thank you. I just put her back in her cage and she went straight for the Roudybush and is having no difficulty eating it. She's crunching away so for now I will watch her and if there is any change I will whisk her off to my vet.

re: <resolved> Pen ink in mouth

This happened to me with Archy when he was a baby. He turned out FINE. :hug8:

I believe it was a Bic pen. I had stupidly forgotten it was in my hair while he was on my back and in no time he was covered in it. Called the emergency vet and the manufacturer and both said it was non-toxic and he should be fine but to just monitor him for a while. The manufacturer said all commercially available ink was now non-toxic because the number of kids that ended up doing the same thing. We were fearing lead poisoning :(

Archy was COVERED. I mean blue everywhere. We rinsed as much as we could but his beak was still stained. He had funny looking poop the next day, but he had no change in behavior.

:hug8: :hug8: Just keep an eye on him but I'm sure he'll be ok

re: <resolved> Pen ink in mouth

After Baby (tiny parrotlet ) bit the tip off of my ink pen, I wiped the ink out of her mouth with a wet paper towel. She was fine since she didn't swallow any ink. I called my vet just to be safe. If I suspected she did. We would have visited the vet.

Baby has been fine since then. She hasn't had a chance to get hold to another pen.

Fannie should be fine if Fannie didn't swallow a large amount of ink.

How's Fannie doing now?

Im sorry for not updating sooner but I was away from my computer all day. She seems to be fine to me. She is eating and drinking normally. She cracked a few very hard shelled nuts today without a problem. If this was truly a crack wouldn't that hurt? The "crack" is still there but unchanged. Im checking it frequently and if it seems worse I will take her in to the vet. Thank you so much for caring. I really appreciate it.

So good to hear about her "cracking" a hard shell nut....
totally agree, if there was a problem with her beak, she wouldn't be doing that!:dance5::hug8:
