The two tiels we adopted from a bird rescue last week! We're still kickin around name ideas.

I think we might name the boy (yellow birb) Gryphon. Both will take treats by hand, and the boy sat on my hand while I talked softly to him for about 20 min yesterday!

for adopting birds from a far away rescue almost unseen (her photos were the WORST)...I'm stunned at how pretty the birds we adopted are. The girl has beautiful tracing on each of her wing feathers, and the boy has yellow spots and stripes on his...though they're harder to photo since they're yellow and white.

Congrats, they are stunning. I'm a sucker for pearls! honestly you may want to go for a unisex name for the lutino pearl just in case

What beautiful tiels you have there. I love the pied one...the markings are very symbolic to colors of winter. Congrats to you both and :welcome2:

Wow absolutely gorgeous and love the name Gryphon! I had a girl who I thought was a boy. We named her Sampson then changed to Samantha and called her Sammy once we found out she was a girl. She was the sweetest baby girl ever. I'm so glad to hear yours are already tame!

how can you tell male from female visually with tiels? I thought you could only be really sure with dna testing? I think we're currently running on the rescue's best guess on whether they're male or female. I don't really mind whatever gender they may be, we didn't adopt with intent of breeding...just to have them as family members.

Well, if they are both 1+ years old and still have all those pearls, then they are without a doubt females!

Males would have lost those pearls, or most of them, by now. :)
