Used two hours, one pick ax, a splitting maul, 3 saws, a tow rope and a jeep to get 1/5th of the water iris bed out of the pond. And there were some real "Hold ma beer and watch this" moments.

Look out! Here comes the pick ax! Duck!

Bought a different saw and removed another couple pieces of iris bed from the pond. Also cleaned the filter and pump. The fishes are starting to poke their noses out of hiding.

Do you have a koi or a carp pond?

There are koi and goldfish. Right now, I intend to have the last of the vegetation - water irises - out tomorrow, and we should have fish moved and the pond empty on Sunday. Then comes cleaning the basin.

Getting ready to take out the last piece of the iris bed. Then I'll clean the filter and pump and let the water clear for a bit before starting on catching and moving the fish.

Think we have all the fish moved. It went fast once we got the water down enough to limit their ability to swim away. Still about 6 inches of water in the bottom of the pond, so there might still be a few small fish. Now, we're using buckets to remove water and checking for fish as we dump them.

Pics soon...
