Ah wow I'll deffinately try some of that red palm oil.

I've got someone coming to have a look at him today. Yesturday I thought he was on deaths door it was terrible, he didn't seem to recognise me at first and seemed really scared and would barely eat or move. He spent most of the day asleep on me.

Then today he's full of beans and games, he's not really fluffed up anymore. Hadn't napped on me today yet. It's all so confusing.

He seems to be showing some other neurological symptoms. Like hypersentivitiy (He won't let me even touch his pin feathers anymore). His balance is really bad too keeps falling off everything. As well as the aggresion. Hes so much better with me now mind but thats it haha.
Over the last month he's gradually stopped flying less and less. Now he won't fly at all and if he does try he kind of just falls out of the air.

Hey there sorry, there's nothing really positive to update on really. His cataracts are developing really quickly in both eyes. But at least he himself seems really happy and healthy again now.

I had him at a vet again the other day. He looked in his eyes and confirmed they're "true cataracts'. He's took some pictures and is going to show them to their optamologist (sorry for spelling). If he feels there is something he can do we will probably go down that route. But he warned me it's very expensive, £150 just for a consultation. But if he thinks he can help I'm happy to try it.

Awww that's really sweet that you've been thinking about him. I've actually started a little Instagram page for him the last couple of weeks, not sure if it's allowed but he's called little.rikko let me know if you're on too :)

Thank you for the update. Hope that he can be helped. Do they have any idea what has caused this?

No it's just one of those bad luck things they think, possibly bad breeding but when I contacted the store I got him from they've used the same breeder for 12 years without a problem.

I mentioned this to the vet and they said it just happens some times. Apparantly human children can be born with cataracts when there is no family history or anything.

Just one of those things I guess :(

Glad to hear you had him rechecked. Perhaps the specialist will have some suggestions. Hope he is comfortable and adjusting

:hug4:Oh bless the poor little guy. I hope there is chance for improvement. Just in case, read up as much as you can regarding caring for him as his sight diminishes.
