I think they are also called red vented cockatoos, and they are a rare species of cockatoo.

What a sweet, precious, adorable, cute, endearing, little baby!!! (Of course they are, if they grow up to be such a beautiful bird!) It's very sad that they are endangered.

Most non-bird people would think that the chick is "ugly"...but who cares about their opinion...

My vet took in a Red Vent Cockatoo a couple of years ago that someone didn't want. He generally doesn't take in birds, but he recognized that this was a rare species and wanted to save it. He was searching for a place where he could be bred to the same species - I don't know where it went - I'll have to ask.

Ha ha, baby birds are way cuter than baby humans IMO. Little pink dinosaurs.
Anyway, what good news! It's sad when a species looses their habitat but hopefully conservation efforts like these mean we don't loose the species altogether.
A very special baby who will one day have a very pretty butt.

I wish we saw this species more often. Supposedly they have above and beyond mate aggression issues that make captive breeding often unsuccessful. Every once in a while you see an older bird up for adoption somewhere here in the USA.

Met a sweet red vented years ago at a bird store. She was gorgeous and very friendly.
