Hi, I apologise if this sounds like a bit of a stupid question, but are Teflon/non stick appliances and utensils only toxic when being used? So, if I had a bird in a room with them while they're not being used, would they be okay?

If this hasn't been posted in the correct thread, please tell me! I'm a bit new to the forum ^^;

Teflon/non stick is toxic when heated. The fumes can kill them across the house.
But no, a teflon pan in the cupboard isn't a threat.

PTFE* not Teflon

Teflon is to PTFE as Kleenex is to Tissue

Just because a pan is non-stick does not mean that the pan contains PTFE - contact the manufacturer to verify.

When in doubt, replace.
