Question about gluten-free flour

I don’t keep wheat flour in the house; my wife has to stay gluten-free for medical reasons.

Is it okay to use a gluten free flour blend to make birdie bread? The only ingredient I’m side-eying is the xanthan gum, and nothing came up when I did a search in the forum.

If it’s an iffy idea, I’m not adverse to buying the birds their own whole wheat flour and just making sure my wife is out of the house when I’m working with it. I’m also good to work with plain cornmeal but most of the recipes I’m finding also call for flour. Thoughts?

I use low glycemic flours for bird bread. Almond flour or ground up pellets are a great base for breads that will be given often.

You don't need the starches for bird bread. That's for humans to get softer, higher breads.
