he’s keeping his left eye closed. Some months ago same happened with the right eye and when he opened it after two days there was a thick cataract on it. It dissolved eventually and he regained partial sight in that eye. Now the left eye is closed and he’s being a big baby wanting to be held all the time. He’s getting some oxygen right now.

I didn’t consult with the avian vet then but I’ll set up a consultation between vets this afternoon.

Thanks folks. I just ordered an extra large rice heating pad unscented from Amazon to put under the oxygen tub. He was freezing in the cold o2. Shouldn’t use an electric heating pad in case of sparks.

Wow! I didn't know cataracts could develop that quickly! Or go away on their own. Poor guy. :(
It was LScoot that had the bumps on the eyelid, not Jackson, correct?

correct. It probably wasn't a real cataract but most of his pupil was covered with a thick white film. The vet said it was a cataract but I hadn't told her about the sudden onset because i had thought i just didn't notice it developing. Anyway I'm 100% sure it was an overnight development. This new side is clear so far when he does open his eye.

I don't really know much at all about cataracts so it could be the case.

If his vision is impaired, he must need some comfort.

Poor guy. I've never had a bird with eye problems but I have had horses with ulcers in their eyes. One had six ulcers in two years and I figured out he was rubbing his eyes on his sand covered knee and scratching them. Very painful and expensive. Hope Jackson is better soon

Yes I didn’t go to work today, did minimal upkeep for everyone else and kept the trouble makers caged and just sat with him in my cupped palm. Every time I set him down he could climb right back onto my palm.
