hello
I have given custard apple to my eclectus and instead of the fruit she has eaten the seeds.
I have later read that they are highly toxic.
Does anyone have any information related to this?
There is no avian vet here ( mauritius) and the other vets don’t do any tests for parrots.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanking you in advance.

Custard Apple is known here as Cherimoya, and is not related to the apples we have here in the US. How long ago did he eat them? Do you know how many seeds he ate? I don’t have any advice on how to treat it. The seeds seem to be toxic to the liver and kidneys, so something that supports their function, like milk thistle, may be helpful.

Hello
It has been about about 7 hrs since
She ate some, about half the fruit.
I’ll try to find the milk thistle
Thank you very much.

You could call a vet and ask about this. How is she acting?

Hi
I called a vet and he told me to give her multivet.
I had it fortunately and putting in her water.
She seems normal and was playing as usual.
The vet said we’ll be sure after 4-5 days.
Watching her carefully and will stop trying new things.
