Urgent Please Help 911.....

So I don't know what he was doing but Tyrion screamed and then was pacing his cage ...I went to his cage and asked him what was wrong and found that he had tore off one of his nails right to the skin ...I washed it and put flour on it and have stoped the bleeding for the most part but he keeps bugging at it ....right now it looks like its dried blood clotted with a tiny bit of fresh blood on it ....do I watch overnight or go to the vet who doesn't have an avian vet on tonight but he will be seen in the morning ....HELP!!!!

If it's not actively bleeding, I'd watch overnight. Can you do anything to distract him?

Well its lights out now so ...I was just going to go with our normal routine and just watch him I guess ???

Oh dear,,do you have any metacam? Pain and anti-inflammatory,,,if not , then just keep a watch on him for the night...hope he dosent pick at it.

He seems to be shivering his chest feathers more than usual but he is calm and on his bed perch holding his foot up ...there is no bleeding from the toe

Poor Tyrion. Good thing he has you to take care of him. Do you know how he hurt his foot? Is there something that needs to be removed from his cage?

He should be fine as long as the bleeding has stopped. Tuchis TAG has lost two of his nails at about the same place because he has to pick on other birds and I’ve just let them heal on their own. A vet isn’t going to be able to do a whole lot anyway. They might be able to get stitches in there but it probably isn’t worth the hassle or pain.

So I watched him all night ....slept on the couch by his cage ....and he is doing well this am ...he is talking and not picking ...toe looks good so I cut all his other toes and have a vet apt for tomorrow just incase he needs antibiotics and pain meds ...his Dr wasn't in today so they couldn't see him today ...Ill be watching him all day today ...he is eating his breakie right now so all seems good

Sure glad to hear he's doing okay... must have hurt, I know when I get paper cuts, or have a fingernail too short, I'm a baby! He probably enjoyed Mommy sleeping near him.
