As long as you don't let her play under them while you're asleep and keep a good eye on her, I don't see how it could be an issue. Yen has fun crawling under my blankets when I'm sitting at the computer.

If you see any signs of territorial aggression or nesting behavior, then I would limit the under blanket time.

Does anyone else live with you?

The only concern is safety... that moment when the phone rings, you grab it and plop on the sofa to chat... Or someone else walks in and sits down not knowing your little one is under the blanket.

As much as this seems like, oh that won't happen. We had an adopter who had this very thing happen to them. They were beyond devastated. The bird crawled under the blanket and the wife / girlfriend came in with pizza and sat on the sofa on the blanket pile, having no clue... and not having a clue until they were thru the first piece of pizza and looking for their little sun to share the crust.

You can take one step towards safety by starting a habit of your own! When you get up off the sofa, fold the blanket in half or throw over the back of the sofa, so if your little one crawls under the blanket, he will be on the back of the sofa where you're not sitting. Or come up with a safe place to make a play pile of towel, blanket or tees.

Lots of birds love playing under blankets and such, it is just up to you to make it a safe activity!

Don't let it become an obsession. Anything can get carried away. Being a hen you've always got to worry about eggs and too much of that kind of behaviour can/will artificially stimulate the dreaded hormones.

Boo actually started out "playing" with the blankets, it quickly turned ugly and he was nesty. I don't allow it anymore. But I liked that idea of folding the blanket after you get up.
