Platy Fry!

Finally managed to save some platy fry! I have 5 in a breeder net, but there are probably more out in the main portion of the tank. Once they're big enough I'll let them out of the breeder net.

I used to have guppies that would breed, but it's been a long time since my guppies had bred, and then a few months ago the last of them died... But I missed having livebearers and caring for the fry. They're such cuties!

I LOVE live bearers. Used to keep swordtails a lot. Was soooo cool.

The only other fish I had that bred were some German Blue Rams. That was cool too!

I love livebearers too. My first fish were guppies, and the last descendants of my original school died early last year. After that, I got a few more guppies, in gorgeous blues. but they didn't want to breed. I went a month or so without livebearers, and it felt so empty... So I got the platys. What can I say, I have a soft spot for livebearers!

Livebearers are tons of fun! Always so exciting to find the babies.

Awe, wee little ones. I love fish. Livebearers are so much fun. I used to love seeing the full bellies and the little eyes you could see inside their Mom. I recently got a new 55 gallon set up (replaced my old 55) living with well water eventually ruins the glass it still caclcifies even with being wet. So we re-did the tank. One of my female peacocks (I have Africans) was holding babies in her mouth and after putting them back she spit one out. I hope to see a baby mature, but we will see if he or she has found a great hiding place!

They're good! Starting to show their colors, although just barely. The parents are as carnivourus as ever, they've started coming up to the sides of the breeder box and staring at the babies, and some even try to attack the babies! So I've started providing hiding spots in the breeder box.
