I recently adopted a White Capped Pionus about a week ago from a rescue. He seems very comfortable in his new home. Whenever I have him out though he flys over to my bed and will start rubbing his vent on my blanket. I will remove him from the bed but he will fly back minutes later. He also does not do it in his cage only on my bed. Is there a reason why he does this and how do I discourage it.

You could try to put something over the bed that isn't as nice to hump... Flattened cardboard perhaps, or just remove the blanket while he is out. It's a hormonal time for many birds right now, and they are looking for an outlet for that.

Or you could just let him enjoy himself?

Thank you for the response. I get it is hormonal season but Is it possible that it could also be stress related because he was recently brought into a new home?

I would doubt that. Birds are prey species, so stress means being watchful, ready to fly off. It's hard to do that when they are having their way with something!

IMO it's natural behavior, and unless it's causing medical issues, I just ignore it.
All 3 of my birds have their favorite perch, toy, blanket to 'do it' with.
I just let them be, and if they try to seduce me, I remove them to a playstand.

Dobby has a favorite perch for that and we can hear him making the happy noises then a sigh and we ask him if it was good for him...
