Excited!!!

:bliss::excited1::yahoo:
Have been holding off the announcement but I am getting a 21 year old female hawkhead named Penny.

Just got confirmation Penny's on the road & should be here in about an hour so I am sharing my joy! Even Rio knows something is up!!!

Been trying to do a crash course in the Hawk Headed Parrot as I have never met one & they just are not common.

Penny according to Wendy is very sweet. She talks, laughs, makes coffee slurp sounds & lifts her wings for scritches. She has never bitten in over 2 years so I feel more confident that she is really a sweet bird & we will before long become good friends.

I just can't wait to hear her laugh & I hope she fills the place with laughter!

Got her fruit & veggie bowl waiting as she does not like cold food...

No watermelon yet but apple, carrot, blood orange & romaine*...

SWS came at the right time & lots of goodies are on order...

*Tossed the Romaine as too many problems lately!!!!*

Excited for you. Looking forward to when she arrives and reading an update.
Toss the romaine. May or may not be safe.

Its not cut up romaine...only the cut was a problem. Also its the heart & I have ate it & so has Rio with no problem.

I'll do some more research but this romaine should be ok.

They did add heads & hearts but is this e coli romaine still being shipped out or was it just a one time thing????

I won;t buy any new romaine but I have eaten this one & I was ok...???

Maybe I should toss it!!!! Tossed it...its not worth it & a poor bird would have no chanc against it if it brings down a human..

How exciting! :D I LOVE hawkheads, they're one of my dream birds but as you said, they're just not common. I expect lots of pictures!

Is she the HH who was posted here on the forum awhile back?

I agree!!!

Won;t give romaine...Plenty of other veggies but Rio likes it...oooh well
yes better safe than sorry!

There was a recent problem with cantalope in Australia...

Organic does not matter as it still could get contaminated & quite impossible to wash ecoli off of leafy veggies.

Could try a light soak in a dilute F10 solution. They even administer it orally to some sick birds not that I'd recommend that but a was of veggies fruit in it & rinsed should be pretty safe...

Penny is such s doll & that laugh...we sound alike!!!!

She was laughing in her carrier.

Shes in her cage now & very quiet. I'm just letting her have her space & will give her her fruit once she gets her foot off the food cage so I can slip the bowl in without her having to move her foot...'

Shes in a new environment so I know she will need time to adjust.

Oh gosh I remember meeting my first HH in person. He/she turned around and looked at me and raised that crest. I could have died from cuteness. I hope everything goes well!

She laughed a bit gosh we sound good together!!!!

She's raised the crest for a few short instances so that means she is a bit tense...understandably!

Gave her food & she went for the almond & ate it...so cute!!!

Shes in a spot where she will feel safe as its a small hallway & nothing around it to frighten her while I try to set up a form of quarantine.

She hear Rio & she starts to answer...

Not touched her fruit yet
