Palm leaf plates, safe?

I was in a grocery store yesterday when I spotted a section with palm leaf plates and birch cutlery!

It’s made of Areca palm leaf and the company claims it has no chemicals/glue/colours. 100% natural palm leaf.

Do you think these would be safe for toy parts? They are flimsy enough that ice could easily rip pieces off!
