Can I ask why you are calling him a tortoise? They are land dwellers. Just wondering.

Ah and this is where things get interesting. Here in Australia unless it's a sea turtle we call it a tortoise.

Strictly speaking a turtle spends the majority of it's life in water and has webbed feet/flippers.

A tortoise is land dweller (as you said), does not have webbed feet but claws.

Now if you look at Pacer she has webbed feet and claws. She also spends time in and out of water so it's important for her to have access to a dock and a basking light.

So some Aussie will call them a tortoise sticking with the sea turtle theory, other will call them a turtle due to teh amount fo time they spend in th water.

Pacer is a Macquarie shortnecked turtle/tortoise depending on who you're talking to.

We Aussies just like to confuse things and make our own rules.
