Thank you Mirium, that is so nice of you. Thought it would get easier but Leroy has only called for Beau twice today, hoping it will get less as time goes on. :hug8:

Anne...I saw this poem and thought you might find ome comfort in it. My friend who received it herself after the loss of her dog found it soul soothing.

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just lost my dog recently and I know the pain, but for you it is only greater. What you did was the best for both your dogs. We sadly were unable to give our dog the peace of being put to sleep and it is something that still weighs heavily on my heart and fills me to the brim with regret. I think you made the right decision, yet that does not take away from the emptiness. You will adjust with time, but the memories will remain- and in most ways that is good thing.

So very sorry.

That poem is beautiful and had me filling up yet again. We are in the middle of a snow storm and only managed to bury our dear pair before it all kicked off. Now it would be impossible to do. Think these things happen to a pattern and a reason. The snow is now thick and more coming down with other parts of Britain having a lot more than us. Even a minor earthquake somewhere in England on our news.
Our friends have power cuts and we so far have been lucky enough to have escaped this.
Max our German Shepherd does not like the snow under foot and has voted to stay indoors the whoos!

Today I am just aching for a cuddle with my doggies but it is not going to be happening, so will give Bonnie and Max some extra cuddles instead.
Leroy our Grey is still calling for the dogs but it is getting less and less and I know without us using their names daily it will eventually become a thing of the past.
Leroy is now yelling "what you done?" making me feel so guilty but know it is a general saying and nothing to do with me!
