Blu our Macaw has decided that getting on the door before it's opened expedites getting out of the cage. He gets on the door as soon as he sees you reach for the latch. He doesn't bite me but will nip at my wife given the chance. With him on the door we come up with an arm from under him. He can't bite because he's holding on to the door with his beak. He releases one foot at the time to step down on the arm then releases the bite on the door. He seems to like this better than a reach in or getting out on his own. If we don't immediately offer an arm he just hangs there waiting. He always laughs out loud when he's finally perched on the arm then does some hair blowing wing flaps before settling on his play stand.
