It's hard to believe it's only been one year since I brought home a trio of dirty, frightened cockatiels. They've all come such a long way.
Ruben's (formerly Benjamin) owner said:
"He tries to fly and he's getting stronger and grooms himself a lot. He's happy. I called him Ruben. He says hello sometimes and loves to hang upside down and stretch his wings. Whenever I come home he likes to be greeted and does a kissy noise and comes down from the top perch. I leave the cage open a lot, and he doesn't come out totally but he is definitely loved. He likes carrots and apples and Chinese noodles."
Skylin and Katara are both doing well. Skylin's clipped feathers finally molted out, and he's learning to fly much better now that he's not missing the tips of his primaries. He still doesn't quite have his landings down, but he'll get there. Katara is such a sweet little lady who keeps Skylin in line. They're both still living cage free and enjoying their new life.
