Ollie Turns Circles on Cue

Ollie the Orange-winged Amazon came to me extremely fearful of humans and hands. He refused to come out of his cage for the first 1.5 years. Training using positive reinforcement is a lot of fun for both the learner and the teacher.

He just keeps getting better and better. How is his nose doing, I seem to remember he had blocked up nares back a while ago.

Hi Terry, yes he still has a blocked nare - you have a good memory! It's a collapsed nostril. I keep hoping it will get better and it does sometimes. He also has Aspergillosis from the apalling conditions he was kept in. I think he's mostly a happy boy now. Uncaged during the day and in the summer/warmer days he loves being in the aviary.

Every time I see him he looks happy and better then the last time. I was always worried about Nerd because he was always skinny and had bad feather color at first but I gave him something for feather health and he moulted out all the bad ones and they never came back. Vet didn't think he had it and he did make it 31 happy, skinny years.

Yeah, it been quite a few years and he is still doing good, especially for his condition. I remember when you first got him, you had went through a lot with him and also him learning to trust you. He's so wonderful looking in the video and wow what a good boy on cue!!
