I got up this morning to hen mallard and 9 ducklings in our pool. She's spooky too boot, I tried to talk her into the only corner of the pool where the ducklings can get out. She spooked. Also there's a drake and she's trying to keep the babies away from him too. The pool is closed on the weekends and if you jump the fence you are trespassing and they prosecute. I'm worried that those littles will get sucked into skimmers too.

Eek. I didn't think about the possibility of getting sucked in, only about the chlorine. Anyone you can call?

I hope she finds it. Could you throw food over the fence in the right corner then leave to see if they head that way? I know bread isn't the best for them, but it's better than the skimmers.

I did throw bread down but she is spooky as all get out. The drake left hopefully she will get them out. They need to raise the water so the babies can get out.

She keeps jumping out calling the babies but because of the rim they can't get out. I've lived here 30+ years and rescued so many babies out of this pool. It's frustrating as all get out.

Oh man, that's not good!

I just saw on the news a story about firefighters rescuing ducklings with a YouTube video of duck sounds.

It was different from your situation because the babies were separated from their mom. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to try to steer them out with that?

Btw- I'm not suggesting this to you but I would trespass to save them. I would take a video of them stuck there before I did it, to prove I was doing it for a good reason if I got caught.

So glad they were fished out and put on the grass
