I forgot to uncover the cages this morning, as I was in a rush. I came down to charge my phone about half an hour before posting this, and that's when I realized I had forgot to uncover them. When I did, let's just say I broke into tears. Lucky, my baby budgie, was dead. When I removed lucky from the cage I noticed lots of bite marks on his feet, and a big crack in the side of his beak. There was dried blood in the crack (or it looked like dried blood) and my guess was that lucky had been attacked by Opal after I moved Lucky to Opal's cage.
At first I though Jordan had attack, since I had a cage divider in her cage (Jordan on one side, budgies on the other), but when I was filming a goodbye video, i showed lucky to all of my birds and Jordan just "cried" and wanted to preen him, Opal was avoiding him, and Elvis just wanted to court him, I don't think Elvis realized Lucky was dead.
Jordan was Lucky's first birdy friend after being introduced to my flock, Opal was the last one to get along, but maybe she didn't get along well enough.
I made a little speech video in honor of Lucky, (and a little certain someones hatchday tomorrow) and gave the flock some of Lucky's favorite food, seeds.
R.I.P Lucky, you can now fly free with Chrissy, Clicky, Cassie, and Feather Weight, over the rainbow bridge.
